All India Science Teachers’ Association, the first of its kind in India, was formed in 1956 in Summer Hills of Shimla, HP state by the science teachers of all levels, scientists and officers associated with Science Institutes of India. The objective of the association was to lend voluntary services for the professional growth of science teachers of schools, development of science curricula related to newly introduced 11 class higher secondary education, development of teaching learning materials and evaluation system. To intensify the activities of the association regional chapters were opened in different states of our country.
